   - CERG Fund Awarded ( HK$1,334,120 ) for Risk assessment of human exposure to mercury (Hg) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) via indoor dust in Hong Kong and  ( HK$944,700) for The Role of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on the Tolerance and Accumulation of Arsenic in Rice respectively.

Prof MH Wong has been invited to serve on (1) the Advisory Council on the Environment (ACE), (2) Chairman of its Waste Management Subcommittee, and (3) Advisory Committee on Review and Development of Marine Water Quality Objectives - Feasibility Study of Environmental Protection Department (effective 1 January 2009).
   - RGC Collaborative Research Fund awarded (HK$4,500,000) for Environmental Screening, Computational and Biological Characterization of Endocrine Disruptors, in Respect to Receptor Binding, Embryo and Gonad Physiology: CRF research project led by Dr CKC Wong

  -   UGC (Special Equipment Grants) fund awarded (HK$2,140,000) for Centralized Facility for Monitoring of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Hong Kong
  -   One of our papers published in Environmental Science & Technology (Leung et al., 2007) related to environmental pollution of uncontrolled recycling of electronic waste was one of the top 20 most cited papers (out of over 1200 ES& T papers) for the year 2007.
  -   RGC (Group Research) fund awarded (HK$3,700,000) for Mercury Contamination in Freshwater and Marine Fish Cultivated Around the Pearl River Delta and Its Health Risk Assessment
  -   RGC (Public Policy Research) fund awarded (HK$540,552) for The Problems and the Solutions to E-Waste Generation and Disposal in Hong Kong, led by Dr. SS Chung

  -   CERG fund awarded (HK$1,433,914) for Research Project on Environmental and Health Risk Assessment of Persistent Organic Pollutants in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shenyang, China
  - CIES received the highest project grant ¡V HK$936,000 out of 8 universities from the Research Grants Council under the Policy Research for the project entitled "Protection and Redevelopment of Agricultural Soils in Hong Kong".
  -   CIES ranked No. 1 for the 3rd time in a row (2003-06) in the latest "Assessment of Research Centres / Laboratories of Hong Kong Baptist University."
  -   CIES is classified as a Tier II laboratory in the UNEP POPs Global Monitoring Program;
  -   Prof MH Wong serves as leader of Task Team 4 of MERIT, one of the eight "Areas of Excellence" selected by the Hong Kong University Grants Committee
